Grafton Jacaranda Festival
It’s that wonderful time of year when the magnificence of the Jacaranda tree performs it’s purple symphony. This year HiP Caravan customers will be joining in the festivities in the Northern Rivers beauty spot of Grafton, NSW, where the world-renowned Jacaranda Festival is held yearly, from the last weekend in October to the first weekend in November. What better way to be amongst it, than enjoying a caravan holiday in the caravan parks in and around Grafton. Watch the beauty of the falling blossom from one of HiP’s pop-top caravans or camper trailers –
Or travel through the broad streets and avenues of Grafton as the trees bow down providing that distinctive canopy of color.
Now in it’s 77th year, the Jacaranda Festival first began on the 29th October 1935. Four thousand people gathered to give thanks to nature. With children and adults dancing and parading the streets. And, as is still the tradition today, a ‘Festival queen crowning ceremony is held on the last Saturday in October each year, heralding the start of the
major festival week. The final weekend features a spectacular street parade’ – Info. Ref: www.jacarandafestival.org.au/history.htm
It all sounds so wonderful, we wish we could join in the festivities ourselves…
